So You Got a Ticket. What Do You Do?

You just received a fine. You have to make a decision within 30 calendar days from the day you received the fine. What should you do?

Attend Traffic Class
Within 30 days of the receipt of the fine you shall pay the fine personally and must inform that you are assisting a certified traffic school, like Flex Traffic School. You will have 60 to 90 days to complete the school. Not attending or forgetting to send the certificate of completion to the Court bring about other additional fines.

Remember: You can take this option only once in a 12 month period and no more than 5 times in life.

Pay the fine and receive points
Pay the fine and receive points. Points related to the fine for 36 months would be maintained to take this option.

The points on your driving record will increase the monthly payment on your auto insurance. This increase is based on the number of points, age and other factors established by your the insurance company. The accumulation of points you get when your license will be suspended.

Remember: Each violation is assigned a number of points in accordance with the laws of Florida traffic.

Go to Traffic Court
Notify the County within 30 days of your fine that you want to attend Traffic Court. On your scheduled day of Arraignment, you will have the opportunity to enter a Plea of “Not Guilty”, “Guilty”, or “No Contest”. If you decide to plea “Not Guilty” at Arraignment, you return to court on another day for the judge to hear testimony from the Police Officer and yourself.

Remember: You can not pay the fine, if you take this option to know the judge’s decision.
